Perfect Panda

We were using LiunaPic to create collages with different artistic effects. We had to be mindful of using images that had Creative Commons licences or our own, rather than just grabbing one from a Google search.

It was interesting to see what some of the different effects did to our images.

We had a few challenges as some devices didn’t allow downloads.

We then used this learning to write our first learning blog post.

Our Own Blogs

We have been looking at how we login and use our own blogs to post about our learning, comment on other’s work and reply to comments.

You can look down the right hand side of this blog to see links to our Learner Blogs.

Click on them and see what we have been doing!

Google Docs

There are so many features and tools in Google Docs that we didn’t know about!

Here is a screenshot of a little of Cadance’s work exploring using a few of these.

What are your favourite tools to use in Docs?

Private and Personal – Photo Words

What information are you ok with sharing online? What should be kept private? there are times when it is ok to share certain information online and other times when it would be good not to. We looked at what type of information we share, when.

Below is Shyla’s Photo Words creation that shows her understanding of what information is ok to share and which is private.

Visual Mihi

We have been looking at what information is private and we should not put online and keep to ourselves, and what is personal information that is ok to put online and ok to put online.

To show our understanding of this we made a visual mihi in Google Slides to show images that represent some personal info about us.

Here is Haka’s Visual Mihi.

Right Place, Right Time

We have been learning about being in the right place at the right time when we are online. To help us navigate to the right place we learned about how to create and personalise bookmarks. Then we made sure that our Bookmarks Bar was well-organised so that we can quickly find the online places that we need.

To demonstrate our understanding of the use and importance of bookmarks, we created a poster using a blank Google Draw canvas. We had to create a poster, which included adding a link to text, adding a link to an image, and using word art. These were all new skills for us in Google Draw.

Here is a slidedeck of some of our finished posters.

Room 4’s meke blog

Hello, we’re Room 4 of Levin Intermediate School. We are a year 7 and 8 mixed class. Our teacher is Matua Walter and we have Whaea Nic as a teacher aide in our class as well. We have 35 people in our class.

At the start of the day we do something called Wake Your Body which is fitness/PE and that is to get our brains working. Each day we mostly do maths, literacy and then other things.

Our school values are the 3 Rs: Respectful, Responsible, Resilient. Our class focus at the moment is managing ourselves and our time, and showing maturity.

Thank you very much and we’ll hear from you next time. We look forward to reading your blog and getting to know more about you.

Ka kite ano.
